IT Technical Apprentice

The primary purpose of the role is to provide 1st and 2nd line IT support in a manufacturing and enterprise office environment. Based primarily in our Dewsbury manufacturing plant, it is expected you will provide remote support to all locations, with the potential for some travel.

Role

MAIN DUTIES

Provide comprehensive operational on location and remote IT support as and when needed.

Support and maintenance activities in the following technology disciplines; Application and software Support, Database Administration, Endpoint support (including Virtual Machines), Networking, Engineering Systems, IT Security, printer and peripheral management and connectivity.

Responsible for day-to-day desktop support questions and providing end user training and guidance as required, in line with Service Desk Metrics (TTA, TTR, & ITEX).

Act as intermediary between the users, third party vendors and other internal Parker IT technology teams.

Support the maintenance of the local infrastructure ensuring it is available within core operating / production hours.

Responsible for routine data backup and data storage checks, according to Corporate and Group policies and guidelines and ensuring issues are escalated to the responsible team in a timely manner.

Support the Local Security and Compliance team, ensuring compliance of the local IT security, corporate, and industry regulatory standards (for example, physical security of the server room, AD security in accordance with Corporate, Group and overall Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) guidelines and procedures and related audits/reviews).

Ensure all hardware and software are purchased in line with Corporate and Group standards.

Ensure that Corporate and Group Policies are strictly adhered to at all times.

 

PLANNING AND ORGANISATION

Implement standard work to ensure maintenance activities are completed as required.

Manage Service Desk requests to ensure metric compliance.

Support the Group European IT Team on continuously improving IT and user infrastructure and compliance culture.

 

As part of your contract of employment completion of the Apprenticeship Training Programme forms part of your duties as well as helping your personal and professional development; the requirements to complete the programme are as follows: 

 

  • Attend and be punctual for all induction session, lessons, work-based training/support sessions
  • Complete all required assignments
  • Build up your portfolio of evidence on-going
  • Access support from your tutor/assessor and manager as and when required

Training

Information Communications Technician (ICT) Level 3 Apprenticeship provides support, by using tools or systems to problem solve and trouble-shoot. This occupation supports clients/customers with their systems.

An ICT could be installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and/or software faults, solving technical and applications problems.

You will attend Kirklees College in Huddersfield on a Wednesday.

You will complete an End Point Assessment.
