Urgent and Emergency Care Clinical Transformation Lead

Job summary

An exceptional opportunity to be the lead on clinical transformation in the Unscheduled Care field within Powys Teaching Health Board. Applications are welcome from both Advanced Clinical Practitioners with a background in Emergency Department/ Urgent Care and Consultants in Emergency Medicine.

Our rural nature and sparsely populated area means we do not have the critical mass of people locally to provide a District General Hospital within Powys. Therefore, we pay for Powys residents to receive urgent and specialist care services in hospitals outside of the county in both England and Wales. As set out in our Integrated Plan, Powys is taking forward the Accelerated Sustainable Model, in line with the transformation work for the 6 Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care, to develop our urgent care offer to meet the population of Powys now and in the future. This role would be integral in shaping the vision of this offer, with the guidance of clinical expertise and urgent care experience being instrumental in our planning.

This is a key post, providing clinical leadership, decision making and recommendations to support the transformation, learning and innovation within the unscheduled care field of PTHB. The post holder will assist in the transformation of the unscheduled and urgent care offer within Powys, creating an environment and system of safety, quality and improvement based on community needs and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provideexpert advisory and decision-making capacity on unscheduled care standards and practice, across the spectrum of relevant policy development where necessary, and this may include leading on policy development for specific issues, topics, and pathways.

Leading on the clinical governance agenda supporting the NHS Wales 6 Goals for Urgent & Emergency Care programme, Strategic Programme for Primary Care will be a crucial element of the role.

To support clinical decision making around the current and future service within unscheduled and urgent care with a in depth understanding of the urgent care offer unique to Powys.

Lead on development and transformation of Unscheduled Care services and clinical pathways in line with the PTHB Integrated Medium Term Plan.
