Security Operations Manager

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of telecoms security, to ensure continued best-in-class network services. This will be for an initial 12 month contract and has hybrid working of 2 days a week in Reading.

What the role will be doing:
The IT, Data, and Cyber Security function is vital to this companies success, acting as a centre of excellence that delivers solutions to enhance service, efficiency, and overall business performance. This role will report to the Head of Information Security and will involve taking on responsibilities across various domains (mainly security operations) and supporting broader security team activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Enterprise, Corporate, and RAN/Tx security teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Assist the Head of Information Security in managing security projects across different domains.
  • Address operational security issues to allow teams to focus on TSA-related activities.
  • Participate in governance forums and service review meetings.
  • Support risk management processes and contribute to budget planning and management.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct data analysis for heatmapping and perform threat modeling.
  • Perform risk assessments and provide risk-based recommendations for mitigation and compensating controls, specifically within a mobile telecom environment.
  • Lead complex investigations of cloud security incidents and violations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience of working within a security operations environment
  • Experience of Azure and M365 security.
  • Strong hands on knowledge of Windows end-user devices, as well as Microsoft Sentinel and Defender.
  • In-depth understanding of ISO27001 standards and risk management practices.
  • Experience working in regulated security environments.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing security policies, specifications, and standards.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
  • Experience in technical security project delivery, preferably within a regulated industry (e.g., telecoms, finance, rail).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Telecoms industry experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
