eCare Configuration Analyst

Job summary

RCHT is seeking to implement a new Electronic Patient Record (eCare solution). eCare will be implemented across the Trust to improve quality & safety and to enable efficient working practises, leading to better patient experiences.

The eCare implementation forms an integral part of an innovativeand exciting transformation programme that will provide a comprehensive digital experience, incorporating the full range of functionality required to deliver excellent patient care.

We are looking for experienced developers to manage the eCare system configuration and support the implementation.

Please note that this role is currently going through Agenda for Change job evaluation and is subject to banding confirmation.

Unfortunately due to budgetary constraints we are unable to support visa sponsorship for this role.

Main duties of the job

Operate as a lead subject matter expert for the capture and analysis of problem definitions and for the documentation and presentation of these findings.As part of a team, to provide a resource to the Trust for the continuing support, development, and exploitation of the eCare provider system.To lead on the development of highly complex problem and requirement definitions for specific clinical or operational requirements and to work with users and project teams to develop innovative solution designs.To work with clinical and operational staff, eCare provider subject matter experts, other healthcare organisations to review and adapt solutions already designed and developed for other organisations, for the Trust.As a member of the Configuration Team ensure that all developments and projects are initiated and conducted in a controlled and consistent manner and are part of a coherent and managed programme under the overall control of the eCare Programme.As a team member contribute to ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, to budget and meet the quality criteria required to achieve the identified Trust benefits. This will include cost reduction and avoidance, simplified, streamlined work processes, improved patient experience, and improved efficiencies for the Trust.

Job responsibilities

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more areas of the eCare functionality and to expand expertise into other functional areas as required:-Maintain Standing Data Work with Data Owners to ensure data required for configuration is maintained.Using the data requirement process, ensure that standing data is maintained to be accurate and up to date.Maintain records of standing data changes and issues with data and identifying, reporting and, where appropriate, escalating problems arising from untimely maintenance or inaccuracy.Solution DesignWorking as lead on specific configuration modules and or as part of a team with allocated Trust business units and users to identify a range of options for solutions for defined business problems and requirements. Provide expert consultancy regarding the implications of configuration changes across applications and on dependant workflows, supporting strategic decision making in this area.Working as lead or as part of a team with allocated Trust business units and users to estimating costs and time to develop and identifying the benefits associated with solution options.Process MappingTo develop process maps through leading workshops, observations of working practice and individual interviews and to document these according to Trust current practice or the requirements of the project. This may include a range of methods including, inter alia, BPM, Workflow EPC and UML.To work with other Service Leads and staff and Change Leads to challenge and review current processes and practices to design new and more streamlined and efficient process and practices supported by systems.To apply knowledge of the workflow and process automation capabilities and limitations of eCare provider and other clinical systems to ensure that redesigned processes are achievable and practicable. eCare Solution FunctionalityBe prepared to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more areas of the eCare functionality and to expand expertise into other functional areas as required. Keep abreast of developments in the eCare solution functionality and the specific implementation of functionality with the UK NHS user community and in the Trust, within the functional areas for which the post-holder is an SME and across the other functional areas.Present and demonstrate complex eCare solution functionality to groups of users of varying IT skills for the purposes of awareness raising and developing vision. Solution DevelopmentBuild prototype solutions and use these to confirm requirements with users.Develop production quality builds and manage the testing and promotion of these into production. Liaising with eCare provider and other development partners to achieve the build and testing of solutions in accordance with prescribed procedures and processes.Document the as-built configuration in accordance with Trust standards.Rollout, Training and Change ManagementParticipate in and undertake the specification and development of training courses and materials.Participate in and undertake delivery of training courses.Contribute to the management of change within operational or clinical practice required for the implementation of solutions, developing an understanding of clinical requirements and supporting the alignment of the system.Problem and Requirement Definitions Conduct the problem analysis and definition process and documenting the results and the subsequent requirement definition in accordance with defined trust methodology and templates either independently or as part of a team.Contribute to the evolution and development of the Trusts analysis methodology and documentation as part of the analysis team.Support and Problem Resolution Provide support to the live eCare system.Spend periods of time monitoring logged calls in the eCare application queues and take ownership of individual calls and application problems. Manage calls, document activities, and communicate with users in accordance with the procedures, processes and guidelines prescribed by the Configuration ManagerProvide expertise on the eCare configuration and actively contribute to the management of the testing and promotion of code and configuration through the environments and the periodic environment refresh.Other dutiesTo provide cover for other Configurers and the Configuration Manager as appropriate. Assist in producing ad hoc reports and in project work within or run by the ICT Directorate.Undertake any other duties requested as appropriate to the banding.General ResponsibilitiesTo provide leadership to specific Trust projects, where the post-holders skills and knowledge are appropriate.To participate and occasionally lead in the development of local processes and policies relating to configuration and application management.If requested to, provide temporary or interim leadership of the Configuration team.To participate and/or act as a team leader as appropriate where working groups are established to create specific deliverables.To manage the transition of support from legacy system(s) to an enterprise eCare.To support the eCare rollout and business as usual following implementation.To manage the implementation of configuration changes to the supported modules.

Qualifications

Essential
  • oEducated to Degree level (IT related) or equivalent IT experience and/or training.
Desirable
  • Prince 2 foundation

Experience

Essential
  • Specialist configuration experience with knowledge of electronic patient record systems
  • Experience of developing and implementing IT solutions within complex setting such as the NHS
  • Proven systems and process analysis
  • Experience of business process analysis and optimisation.
  • Evidence of ability to use own initiative and work autonomously to professional standards
  • Experience working in an NHS trust or similar large-scale organisation in an IT capacity
  • Effective user of Microsoft Office applications including high level Excel, with advanced skills for software systems manipulation and software applications
  • Demonstrated understanding of project risks and issues management strategies
Desirable
  • Experience with PAS systems
  • Experience of Lean or Lean Six Sigma process analysis
  • Experience of working up to Board level within the NHS
  • A knowledge of Lean; Lean/ Six Sigma; BPML, Workflow or UML
  • Proven project planning capability and experience
  • Experience in the use of project planning tools e.g., Microsoft Project and Visio
  • Experience of large system implementation and/or development.
