Assist with the day-to-day administration and management of our IT environment.

Provide technical assistance and support for software applications, IT equipment, and user account management.

Deliver first and second-line user support according to pre-determined standards and procedures.

Offer initial technical support to users of computer systems throughout the Trust.

Participate in a rotational on-call out-of-hours support service.

Work across multiple sites, predominantly at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to assist with all aspects of the day to day administration and management of the general IT environment as necessary, with particular emphasis on the Trust's Service Desk, desktop hardware, printing and client, application(s) and infrastructure environments.

To provide technical assistance and support relating to software applications, IT equipment and user accounts management.

The ICT Support Technician is to provide first & second line user support, in accordance with pre-determined standards and procedures.

This post holder will be responsible for providing initial technical support to users of computer systems throughout the Trust.

The post holder will have an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft systems with accreditation and\or experience of working within an IT environment.

You will be required to participate in a rotational on-call out of hours support service.

This Role may require multisite working at either our Huntington based administration centre or at the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge biomedical site. Predominantly the latter.

Qualifications

Essential
  • An in-depth Knowledge of Microsoft Systems with accreditation with experience of working in an IT environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Hardware problem solving

Experience

Essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a wide range of health service and external staff and the ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to use own judgement when allocating priority to Service Desk calls
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight timescales
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work on own initiative unsupervised
  • Competent PC user
  • Ensure that all data contained on the Service Desk system and other associated systems are accurate and available at all times
  • Ability to quickly and accurately determine user problems when liaising with staff
  • Remain calm and professional at all time when dealing with stressed and demanding users and problems
  • Assist in maintaining own and others health, safety and security
Desirable
  • Previous relevant NHS or public sector experience
