We have a new role within our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team. No prior NHS experience is required, but a commitment to equity, equality, and social justicefor our EDI goals are essential.

The Senior EDI Compliance and Assurance Manager role is a new opportunity central in advancing our EDI strategy across objectives and work plans. You'll aid divisional managers in EDI project delivery, from meetings to presentations, requiring in depth planning, reporting, and a drive to challenge discrimination and promote inclusivity.

Key skills include proactive identification of ED&I improvement areas for better service and KPI achievement. Analytical prowess is vital for data analysis in reports and presentations. Collaborating with the Head of EDI, you'll develop tailored EDI programmes and maintain a comprehensive database on EDI initiatives.

You'll integrate our EDI strategy into various organisational workstreams like leadership development, talent attraction, and culture transformation. Collaborating with the Employee Relations Team ensures alignment with our Trust Values for staff inclusivity.

Interview date includes a 10-minute presentation and Q&A with panel.

Main duties of the job

1. Support the Head of EDI in developing and implementing the Trust's diversity strategy.

2. Provide expert advice and ensure high-quality documentation for EDI initiatives.

3. Act as a deputy for the Head of EDI and manage specific projects independently.

4. Oversee Transformational Reciprocal Mentoring and the National EDI Improvement Plan.

5. Manage and coordinate EDI projects, forums, and meetings.

6. Assist in workforce project duties related to EDI compliance and risk management.

7. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for strategic EDI projects.

8. Maintain reporting cycles, draft assurance reports, and share best practices.

9. Lead and deliver EDI projects within timelines and budgets.

10. Support divisional managers in their EDI initiatives.

11. Gather evidence, identify areas for improvement, and engage in resourcing efforts.

12. Provide workforce data for strategic decision-making.

13. Lead Cultural Ambassador quarterly meetings and document minutes.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to a minimum of degree level or equivalent relevant experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development evidence of CPD including specialist knowledge of EDI and practical experience
  • Project management qualification or equivalent experience, e.g. PRINCE 2
Desirable
  • Qualification in EDI area

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of working in a complex organisation or project environment
  • Experience of managing multiple demands/tasks
  • Preparation of complex documents and drafting of routine correspondence
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills
  • Responsible for training individuals in EDI specialist area. The trainees may be from multi-disciplinary teams across the organisation.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Project to a high level of competency
  • Understanding of the legal and best practice standards for equality, diversity, and inclusion (Equality Act 2010).
  • Experience of using risk management system
  • Experience of developing project plans and monitoring progress against these
  • Experience of applying equalities knowledge in a complex organisation.
  • Experience of advising and supporting line managers through provision of expert advice and/or training
  • Excellent organisational; communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to act sensitively at all times in ensuring that the concerns of staff are dealt with sympathetically and act appropriately when dealing with distressing or emotional circumstances which will arise due to the nature of this role.
  • Evidence of ability progress concepts, ideas ensuring sustainability.
  • Influencing skills and High levels of cultural competence and the ability to work across difference.
  • The ability to check documents and analyse statistics
Desirable
  • A good understanding of the EDS22, National EDI Improvement Plan.
  • Excellent presentation skills to present relevant information in a concise and easily readable format.
  • Good understanding of Corporate Governance
