Enterprise Application Analyst (Cerner)

Job summary

Ashford and St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) and the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (RSFT) have deployed the Cerner solution across both organisations within the same Cerner domain. Whilst each Trust will manage and support their own Trust's activity, there is shared usage of the administrative and clinical applications and shared configuration. The Cerner solution will be used across both organisation's Trust wide services, including administrative and clinical processes. The Enterprise Application team is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, support and upgrade of the Cerner suite of administrative and clinical applications.

Main duties of the job

The role reports to the Enterprise Application Lead Consultant and will work closely with both organisations, the Trust's services and with other Digital and Informatics services. This is a new role in an evolving team.

To provide first and second line Cerner application support, as appropriate.

To build system changes in line with the needs of the service when requested through the Service Request and Request for Change process, and where required, liaise with the Cerner Application Management Services (AMS).

To assist with the development of software and lead on areas of technical expertise in line with the changing needs of the Trust, ensuring a clear understanding of procedure and protocol as well as ensuring patient safety and quality at all times.

To assist with planning upgrade processes and assist with implementation, providing technical advice to the users to enable them to deliver the potential benefits of the system.

To undertake specific system administration activities to ensure the smooth running of the suite of Cerner administrative and clinical applications.

To assist with the development and understanding of the operational system support requirements of the Cerner system.

To co-ordinate between the system suppliers, end users, ongoing implementation, system maintenance, system support and development of the application.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Enterprise Application Analyst.

The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford in collaboration with Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Chertsey implemented the Cerner Electronic Patient Record System in May 2022.

The role reports to the Enterprise Application Lead Consultant and will work closely with both organisations, the Trusts services and with other Digital and Informatics services. This is a new role in an evolving team. The Digital team currently have a 50% Hybrid working arrangement (but this could change (either way)).

  • Some knowledge of the account management technical procedures
  • High level understanding of NHS systems, data structure and environments
  • Proven knowledge of designing and managing highly secure and complex systems
  • Experience of supporting information systems
  • Experience of providing high quality customer care and service
Desirable
  • NHS Constitution
  • Trust vision, values and strategic objectives
  • A working understanding of ITIL Service Management and Methodology Processes
  • Experience of supporting clinical information systems, specifically Cerner
  • Good understanding of the patient journey and the key challenges Trust clinicians face with respect to use of systems
