We are offering an exciting opportunity for suitable applicants to join the pharmacy clinical trials team at the Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Clinical Trials team is expanding its workforce to increase research at Sheffield teaching hospitals. The Trust is one of the busiest and most successful NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK.

The successful applicant will be supporting the Pharmacy Clinical Trials team in the delivery of a diverse portfolio of both commercially and non-commercially sponsored studies. Ensuring all current legislation, MHRA guidelines and Good Clinical Practice standards are met. Improving patient care through research and innovation is vital to everything we do. The post holder must be able to work with medical and nursing staff and other health care professionals.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the day to day management of the clinical trials dispensing services, including aseptic clinical trials to maximise efficiency and product quality.

To implement developments within the clinical trial service and aseptic services to meet the needs of the patient.

To develop, train and motivate staff ensuring they feel valued both for their contribution to the department and as individuals.

Provide highly specialist technical expertise in the preparation of injectable investigational medicinal products (IMPs).

Education and Qualifications

Essential
  • (Band 5 & 6) NVQ level 3 or BTEC level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceuticals Sciences (or equivalent)
  • (Band 5 & 6) GPhC Registration

Experience

Essential
  • (Band 6) Experienced and competent in pharmacy clinical trials
  • (Band 6) Knowledge of pharmacy aseptic working practice.
  • (Band 6) Evidence of working as part of the multi-disciplinary team
  • (Band 6) Experience of working within service development projects.
  • (Band 6) Experience of working in clinical trials
  • (Band 6) Experience in supervising a technical area within the pharmacy (i.e. medicines management of a ward area, dispensary, aseptics)
Desirable
  • (Band 5) Experienced and competent in pharmacy clinical trials
  • (Band 5) Knowledge of pharmacy aseptic working practice.
