TTP MDT Co-Ordinator/Administrator

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the role of MDT Coordinator within Surgical Services.

Do you have excellent administration skills, a good eye for detail and the tenacity to go the extra mile?

The post holder will work as part of a multi disciplinary team and will provide expertise in the proactive coordination of cancer MDT meetings and tracking patients on cancer pathways.

They will need to be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as demonstrating the ability to work independently as required. Being able to communicate effectively demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills with a wide range of departments, teams and agencies is essential. You must also have organisational skills and be able to meet deadlines.

In addition the successful candidate will need to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service and have a high level of professionalism and integrity.

Main duties of the job

Working closely alongside the clinical teams the MDT coordinator will help identify patients who are required for discussion at the weekly MDT meeting.

The MDT coordinator is responsible for collating the necessary information for each patient to be presented and discussed on the agenda.

The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to the patients pathway of care. Working alongside consultants and other disciplines of staff.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • NVQ level 4 or equivalent experience
  • Good level of general education including pass grades at English language and mathematics at O'level / GCSE (C grade or above / equivalent, eg. NVQ level 2).
  • IT Qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • ECDL
  • Any further educational qualifications a distinct advantage.

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of working for the NHS in a multi-disciplinary patient-centred environment
  • Resilience in meeting objectives and deadlines and maintaining a fast pace of work
  • Experience of managing projects and working in an office environment
  • Working with Clinicians
Desirable
  • Knowledge of relevant Trust's policies and ability to ensure compliance
  • Experience of working in a Haematology/ oncology setting
  • Working knowledge of current and national programmes of work
  • Evidence of working towards cancer waiting times targets

Further Training

Essential
  • Experience of good organisational skills, prioritisation, and communication skills
  • Experience of being able to work as part of a team, whilst being able to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of the role of an MDT Facilitator
