Product Owner

Overview

We now have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Agile Product Owner responsible for actions to improve financial performance at a strategic level that will influence the direction of the business.

This role will translate improvement activity into tangible outcomes whilst providing a proactive forward-looking approach. Agile is core to the way Aviva operates including strong alignment to Systems Thinking and other modern, adaptive and team-centric approaches to delivery and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Help shape the Strategy of the Business Unit with the Sponsor and Department Heads
  • A strong understanding of Agile values and principles, as well as Scrum framework Planning and organising skills - an independent and proactive worker
  • Maximise, manage and maintain the Hub product, Roadmap & Backlog
  • Keen understanding of CBA's
  • Work with SMEs to refine requirements
  • Help build acceptance criteria
  • Understand current tech stacj and any impacts/issues
  • Support Demonstration of production and tracking of standard Agile metrics sets
  • Provide deep subject matter expertise to the development team
  • Work to remove impediments to delivery in line with policy, process and other guidelines applying business knowledge and expertise
  • Liaise with the Stakeholders and third-parties with regards to ideas being generated throughout the duration of the change itself, being decisive and willing to experiment, within acceptable risk appetite to deliver the desired outcome
  • Encourage collaboration between Scrum Masters, Product Owners (including the Chief Product Owner), Programme managers and Portfolio Change leads
  • Prioritisation of tasks vs deliveries for the team whilst maximising value
Product Owners are active members in our Aviva Product Owner Community with other POs across Aviva to grow the practice of Product Ownership at Aviva to share learning; attend key industry events and forums.



Qualifications

Desirable qualifications and experience:

  • Exceptional written communication with the ability to synthesise a lot of information to produce clear, concise reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Relationship and stakeholder management at all levels
  • Embracing and managing change
  • Positive approach to resolving problems with a solution mentality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong relationship building and senior stakeholder management ability (e.g., able to translate and tailor complex or technical information to meet the appropriate audience)
  • Has the self-awareness and confidence of when and how to say "no". Challenge business requirements and deliver difficult messages.
