Lead Analyst – RM Partners

Job summary

RM Partners work with a range of healthcare organisations, and across primary and secondary care to diagnose people with cancer earlier and faster to improve survival; eliminate variation and inequalities; optimise care through innovation and improvement; and improve patient experience and quality of life.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Analyst within the South West London (SWL) Business Intelligence & Analytics team (BI). The candidate will work very closely with analytical teams in RM Partners and North West London ICB in order to develop analytical tools and analysis that support RM Partner's goals as described above.

We are seeking an analyst who can demonstrate experience of leading and delivering large scale analytical projects within an NHS BI environment. They will need to be very self-motivated, technically proficient, methodical, and organised in their approach. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must as they will be communicating with a wide range of stakeholders in the system.

Please note that we currently have a hybrid working model, but the candidate will be expected to work in both the Wimbledon and Central London offices a couple days each week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be dedicated to RM Partners, engaging with programme and workstream leads across the system to deliver the required BI support.

The post holder will deliver analytics for the RM Partners programmes across the below areas of work, including:

- Production of performance and productivity reports

- Cancer reporting and analytics

- Population Health Management analysis and interpretation

The post holder will support an MDT approach, ensuring appropriate engagement with clinical networks and commissioning operations where appropriate.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate excellent technical knowledge and expertise with previous experience of working with all Population Health datasets, including acute, primary care, community and mental health.

Routine Reporting Requirements: Post holder will be responsible for the routine reporting processes involve and include transferring the dashboard visualisations onto slides, interpreting the data, collation with other data sources.

Population Health Management: Post holder is expected to have an excellent understanding of Population Health Management. Able to help RM Partners in identifying improvements, inequalities based on PHM analysis and create appropriate steps to measure and implement improvement.

Modelling: Post holder will engage and work on Demand and Capacity modelling. Able to engage with Trust operational and clinical teams, interpretation of outputs, and the development of solutions to address capacity gaps.

Additional Data Collection Requirements: The role will require the post holder to collect additional information that is not part of the standard information schedule.

Education & Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to Master level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential
  • Ability to harmonise disparate and possibly conflicting data sources and information requirements by manipulating and effectively analysing complex data
  • Working knowledge of analysing NHS data sources and information flows and their scope and limitations, as well as of other relevant public and private sector Business Intelligence best practice
  • Demonstrable experience in acting upon incomplete information using experience to make inferences and decision making
  • Highly competent in using complex analytical and database software, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010 tools, especially Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables and graphical representation features
  • Awareness of Information Governance related especially to Personal Identifiable Data (PCD)
  • Awareness of health information issues/national informatics initiatives/NHS and GP inform
  • Understanding of the commissioning cycle and the information required to support commissioners
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting while co-ordinating complex projects in a challenging environment
Desirable
  • Detailed practical technical knowledge of databases including data import and processing
  • Experience in writing complex SQL code and Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience of working with cancer and waiting list data

  • Extremely strong data manipulation, statistical, interpretative and analytical skills and ability to make sense and draw meaningful insights from complex NHS datasets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and able to prepare concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required
  • Ability to follow team SOP, continuously prioritise own workload in response to changing requirements or timeframes and work effectively as part of a wider team to achieve shared objectives
  • Significant skills and awareness of how to successfully operate in a politically sensitive environment
  • Ability to use Power BI in the development and maintenance of dashboard reporting
