Painter & Decorator Apprenticeship at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Northfield B31 P&D Level 2
This is a Level 2 Painter & Decorator Apprenticeship at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham. A 24-month apprenticeship to be delivered by Dudley College, this is an opportunity for anyone looking to start a career as a painter and/or decorator.
Role
Undertake a period of training to acquire the skills to be able to carry out decorating and painting duties including routine maintenance repairs, minor improvements and planned preventative maintenance works.
- Undertake training for the safe erection, use of scaffolding towers, and working at height.
- Select (within limits) material and equipment to complete maintenance requests.
- Work with/support various repair teams in the Estates department and shadow other operatives.
- Attend college and training courses to progress and apply what you have learned.
- Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures, using and safely operating a range of tools associated with your role.
- Complete a weekly timesheet and other paperwork associated with your role.
- At all times, wear appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment relative to the task.
- Work closely with management and the office team to understand the ordering processes and administrative tasks necessary for the smooth running of the Estates Department.
- Ensure that the recording of maintenance work and planned preventative maintenance is accurate and detailed.
- Undertake any additional duties commensurate with the post.
- The post holder will seek advice and support from a supervisor or manager whenever necessary, escalating any complex issues.
- The postholder will be guided by Trust Policy and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure that any potential issues that could affect service delivery are reported to the Estates Managers.
Training
- Once the apprenticeship is completed, the apprentice will be awarded the Level 2 Painter & Decorator Apprenticeship standard, equivalent to 5 GCSEs
- Apprentices will be given 1 study day per week for academic purposes for their apprenticeship. This day will be dictated by Dudley College and will be confirmed at a later date
- The location of the training will be either on-site at the hospital or Dudley's College's Construction training facilities
- Functional skills training can be provided as/when needed by the Trust through one of its Business Partners
- Upon completion of the Painter & Decoration Level 2 apprenticeship, an employment contract may be offered if the apprentice is deemed suitable
- The apprentice will enter the band 2 Level
- Potential to go to a band 3+ salary upon completion
