Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join a highly motivated, customer focused Digital & Data department as a Digital Business Analyst on a permanent basis.

Based at Flatts Lane Centre in Middlesbrough, our newly established Digital & Data Business Analysis team works with a wide range of stakeholders to help articulate needs and the rationale for change and to design and describe solutions that deliver value. The team can apply a wide range of tools and techniques to deliver value to stakeholders.

We aim to:

  • Help the Trust commission solutions to our service catalogue that meet our Customer's needs, are compliant and offer value for money
  • Help service developments and projects perform better by eliciting clear requirements - engaging stakeholders in identifying requirements, testing the feasibility of processes, and writing requirements in a way that facilitates development and testing.
  • Maximising return on investment by understanding and articulating benefits and the business changes required to achieve them.

Main duties of the job

The focus of the Business Analysis role is to clearly elicit, define and document stakeholder requirements, alongside all members of the organisation and co- production with Service Users and Carers.

  • Analyse, evaluate, and document business processes; identifying alternative solutions including including assessment of process feasibility and articulation of process requirements.
  • Analyse stakeholder objectives, investigate business requirements and identify and document potential benefits and options available for consideration.
  • Handle complex analysis activities in often contentious situations to ensure common understanding of difficult and sometimes unpalatable ideas.
  • Be able to use change management methodologies to drive forward solutions with the organisation and its stakeholders

The ideal candidate must be a good listener and have excellent communication skills whilst being flexible, adaptable and a problem solver.

We are a supportive team, offering training and development opportunities for those looking to further develop their business analysis skills and career within the Digital & Data services department within TEWV.

Applicants please note that our Trust will support staff to work from home forup to 60% of their working week .There will be an expectation to work with the team onsite at our base at Flatts Lane Centre, Middlesbrough on a weekly basis, as well as frequent travel to customer sites for face to face meetings and workshops as required.

Job responsibilities

  • Gathering, understanding and documenting system changes or upgrade requirements from key stakeholders for assigned digital projects and work packages.
  • Working with key stakeholders and gain an understanding and document the most appropriate way to visualise and utilise data\technology for their needs. Feed documented requirements back to the development teams ahead of development work commencing.
  • Acting as a liaison between the Digital & Data department and key stakeholders forming strong relationships, translating terminologies and managing processes between clinical and technical stakeholders.
  • Look for correlations between user requirements and identify multiple wins, or reuse of existing systems where appropriate to enable streamlined developments.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experiential learning
  • Specialist knowledge across range of business analysis procedures and techniques underpinned by theory. Knowledge of specific areas, acquired through degree or equivalent experience or training.
  • Significant experience in providing business analysis services to change or upgrade critical clinical or business systems.
Desirable
  • International Diploma in Business Analysis (BCS/ISEB)
  • Project Management qualification or PRINCE 2 qualification and knowledge of Agile and sprint management
  • Quality improvement qualification, or evidence of training in quality improvement principles and techniques
  • NVQ L5 in management
  • Agile/SCRUM

Experience

Essential
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience of IT technologies.
  • Experience of gathering requirements.
  • Experience of undertaking systems acceptance testing
  • Proven experience in engaging successfully with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of using influencing and negotiation techniques
  • Experience of producing written reports and relating to complex information and data
  • Experience of presenting complex issues to management in order to trigger a decision
  • Able to make reasoned judgements even when key information is missing or uncertain
  • Use of appropriate communications and coaching techniques to motivate and inspire others to act
  • Experience of participation in a project or working group governing a change initiative

  • Experience of working in a supervisory role

Knowledge

Essential
  • Has an awareness of nationally recognised project management systems.
  • Good understanding of the Trust's Programme/Project Management framework (within agreed timescale)
  • Good understanding of the Trust's Quality Improvement System (QIS) (within agreed timescale)
  • Awareness of the political and managerial context of the NHS and drivers of reform and change within the NHS
  • Specific knowledge required to have credibility with the stakeholders for the project (or an indication from past experience that this can be gained quickly)
  • Understands coaching tools and how to manage and influence both directly managed staff, peers and more senior staff
  • Understands own strengths and weaknesses and able to seek advice/support accordingly
Desirable
  • Understanding of mental health and/or learning disability issues and services
