IT Operations Director
Job summary
The IT Department is responsible for delivering Information Technology to the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. In addition IT is responsible for delivering revenue generating IT services to other NHS organisations and private enterprises involved in the delivery of Healthcare. IT has a total user count of approximately 10,000. Services are delivered from multiple Datacentres.
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust has initiated a 10 year £32M programme called "The Digital Trust" which is to deliver the NHS vision of Paperless at the Point of Care. The programme involves the full delivery of an Electronic Patient record and full interoperability population health solution with other Health and social providers within the local Black Country (STP) Digital Footprint.
As IT Operations Director, you will be responsible for a number of operational projects which are pivotal to the key strategic priorities of the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Strategic Direction
- Support the CIO in the development of an Information and Technology strategy and delivery plan which meets local and national policy aspirations and underpins the Trust's clinical and business objectives
Operational Delivery
- Direct and lead the delivery and implementation of IT Services covering Infrastructure, Network and End point devices.
- Manage the programmes governance arrangements according to appropriate requirements and quality. - Interface with senior stakeholders and deliver effective communications to all stakeholders
Financial Resources
- Manage the financial resources allocated to own areas and make proposals to maximize those resources through budget setting, recharges, long term financial planning and income generating/charging and saving opportunities
- Be responsible for monitoring the maintenance and support contracts allocated to own area, ensuring continuity of service and budget management. Liaise with Third Party Suppliers to agree value for money contracts.
Policy/Service Development/Governance
- Act as an ambassador for the Service by developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with users across the organisation to deliver a high quality, standard IT culture to achieve local requirements and national targets.
Management
Undertake appraisals for team members on an annual basis ensuring feedback on performance are given at regular intervals throughout the year

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
- Masters level degree or equivalent experience in a related subject
- Masters level degree or equivalent experience in a related subject
- NHS relevant Management qualification (e.g. inspirational leaders course, Kings Fund Management course)
Skill;s and experience
- Proven experience of writing, presenting gaining approval for Business cases
- Project management knowledge and experience including PRINCE 2 Experience
- Strong Vendor Management skills in building, maintain relationships both at a commercial and Operational level

Skills and experience
- Experience of the OJEU procurement process
- IT experience gained in both and Acute and Community setting.
- Experience of Infrastructure Management gained at a number of different organisations.
- Experience in delivering Commercial IT Solutions to a mixed Client base.
Communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in managing a team of > 20 Multi discipline WTE
