Location: Limerick (Hybrid: 2 days in office)

My client is looking for an experienced Network Engineer who has experience with automation and has worked in an MPLS focused role.

About the Role: As a Provisioning and Deployment Engineer, you will be a crucial part of the Service Delivery team. Your primary responsibilities will involve designing and deploying customer services, identifying service delivery requirements, and collaborating with various departments to ensure these requirements are met (e.g., core nodes, new backhaul, diversity needs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service Deployment: Oversee on-site engineers during service deployments to maintain quality standards.
  • Service Design: Develop and implement high-standard customer services across diverse platforms.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical support and guidance for large or complex projects.
  • Network Performance: Conduct network performance reviews and implement improvements.
  • Customer Handover: Prepare and submit customer handover packs to specifications for acceptance.
  • Team Contribution: Actively support the Provisioning & Deployment team’s goals to achieve realistic outcomes.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to the service delivery department.
  • Best Practices: Evaluate and implement best practices within the Provisioning & Deployment team, adhering to my client's policies and procedures.
  • Respect and Dignity: Promote dignity at work, showing respect to colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Availability: Be available for out-of-hours work (night planned works) as required.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other ad hoc duties or projects as needed in collaboration with the Provisioning and Deployment Manager.

Key Skills / Qualifications:

  • Scripting & Network Programmability: Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python) and understanding of network programmability/dev-ops methodologies.
  • Routing Protocols: Strong knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS, including design, deployment, and protection mechanisms.
  • Vendor Platforms: Familiarity with vendor platforms such as Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent), Juniper, Ceragon, Ciena, or other service provider equipment.
  • Telecom Testing: Experience in testing and validation of carrier-class platforms.
  • Certifications: Cisco or equivalent IP and/or Ethernet certification.
  • Network Principles: Deep understanding of transmission and routing & switching network principles, particularly in MPLS deployments.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated problem-solving skills within the telecommunications transmission field.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with peer engineers, customers, and vendors.
  • Time Management: Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail with multitasking ability.
  • Leadership: Ability to delegate tasks, provide clear instructions, and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement areas for improvement.
