Head of EPR and Digital Transformation

Job summary

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of EPR and Digital Transformation at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. This crucial role will manage a high-profile programme of work across the ROH, leading the Business Case submission and implementation of its new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) transformation programme. This challenging programme is the largest clinical system transformation programme the Trust has undertaken and is key to the Trust's future strategy and aims to fundamentally transform ways of working.

Main duties of the job

The Head of EPR and Digital Transformation will report to the Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO), utilising exceptional leadership skills, and extensive understanding and experience of delivering complex programmes.

They will build and maintain positive working relationships with staff at all levels and across all professional groups, including working with local and national system partners and diverse patient groups.

To be accountable setting the direction and providing ongoing leadership and management of the programme to ensure that desired programme outcomes and objectives are delivered on behalf of the CDIO, SRO/Executive Lead and Executive Team.

The need for Digital Health services and innovation and ensuring the safe use of data has never been more important and we are seeking a forward-thinking individual with the passion and capacity to lead the DDaT service in its continuous improvement quest whilst working across the system and nationally to identify and exploit opportunities to innovate.

You will have successfully implemented large scale organisational change and have considerable demonstrable experience of managing large teams of staff where possible. We have a dedicated team who strive to do the best for our patients and service users.

Qualifications and Training

Essential
  • Educated to Masters Level (or equivalent level of experience)
  • Management qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Project management qualification or proven equivalent project management experience
Desirable
  • PRINCE2 methodology or alternative project management qualification
  • Culture/change management and/or quality improvement training
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential
  • Demonstrable experience of large scale, complex transformational programme management
  • Experience of working with stakeholders/partners inside and outside own organisation
  • Significant and extensive demonstrable knowledge and experience within an organisation, influencing and supporting decision making
  • Experience of process redesign / change management / transformation
  • Track record of contributing collaboratively as part of a high performing team
Desirable
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex programmes in an NHS Trust/Organisation
  • Demonstrable experience in delivery an EPR / clinical system implementation
  • In depth knowledge of the current NHS agenda and challenges

  • Leadership of multidisciplinary teams with a range of seniority of staff
  • Exceptional presentational abilities including paper reporting and formal presenting to senior leaders and clinicians and large groups, managing and reconciling conflicting views where there are significant barriers to acceptance and/or understanding in a hostile, antagonistic of highly emotive atmosphere
  • A track record of delivering successful change programmes to time with lasting impact and managing large budgets
  • Highly developed digital skills with expertise in Microsoft Office and project management systems
  • Demonstrable track record of developing effective, constructive relationships with senior stakeholders, working across organisational boundaries
  • Experience of effective negotiating and influencing skills to realise change within complex environments (ideally within the public sector)
  • Demonstrable evidence of the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and to deliver
Desirable
  • Experience of delivery of Strategic Outline Case, Outline and Full Business Cases (Green Book)
  • Experience of business case financial planning and modelling
  • The ability to switch easily from high level to detailed planning
  • An evidenced portfolio demonstrating exceptional ability in delivery of sustainable changes
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and ,compare complex facts or situations and make judgements where opinion may differ e.g. service, organisational and staffing issues
