Information Governance Support Officer

Job summary

An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Information Governance team in a diverse and challenging trust.

This role is ideal for someone looking to begin or develop their career in Information Governance. You will have a variety of work tasks including managing internal and external IG queries, IG incidents, Freedom of Information and Data Subject Access requests as required, carrying out administrative tasks to support delivery of the information governance work plan, providing administrative support for the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and arranging and supporting internal meetings.

Training is available for Freedom of Information requests, Data Subject Access requests, management of information governance incidents and other specific information governance related tasks if you are new to Information Governance.

Main duties of the job

NHS Digital - Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT)

o Work closely with the Information Governance Manager in the development of template documents and annual training programmes in line with DSP Toolkit requirements.

o Gathering information and evidence required to complete the DSPT

o Challenge and motivate owners to meet deadlines e.g. contacting staff, establishing cause of delays and advising on ways to achieve compliance

GDPR Compliance

o To support the Data Protection Officer with the implementation of GDPR within SaTH, and provide support for the Trust to become compliant with GDPR

o Manage the population of the information asset register requirements and offer advice and support to those information asset owners and administrators.

Qualifications

Essential
  • A Level qualifications or equivalent
  • Advanced IT and typing skills qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Skills/Knowledge

Essential
  • Ability to pull together comprehensive draft reports, data and letters.
  • Negotiating, networking and persuasive skills
  • Skills for communication on complex information and administrative matters, requiring developed interpersonal and oral/ written communication skills
  • Advanced IT Skills to a point of Mail Merge and Excel Macros
Desirable
  • Knowledge of DATIX system and IG Incident Reporting systems
  • Knowledge of project principles (Prince 2 Foundation or equivalent)
  • Experience and knowledge of data protection impact assessments, data sharing agreements.

  • Relevant experience of working within a governance environment
  • Experience of co- ordination of varying subject matters and levels of complexity in a busy environment.
