Junior Technical Support Officer

Job summary

Junior Technical Support Officer (Band 3 (£22,816 - £24,336). South Devon Health Informatics Service I.T. Operations Department requires a Junior Technical Support Officer to work as part of the Desktop Operations Team. The Junior Technical Support Officer has two aspects to the role. Logistics and more of an Administration role.

The role we are looking for is a person with administration skills with a real thirst and knowledge of IT and Microsoft products to assist with support and management of the Desktop environment and provide a high-quality service to the healthcare community.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities are:

  • To Incident Manage the Servicedesk workload for the Desktop Operations Team
  • To organise hardware repairs with 3rd party suppliers
  • To Make sure SLA's (Services Level agreements) are kept and to work with the Servicedesk Manager to help better the service.
  • To make sure that Servicedesk Scripts are up to date and relevant.

Other Duties may include - Logistics

  • To assist with the hardware delivery/build/deployment process including logistic support, inventory management, asset management, administration, BIOS configuration, PC & laptop imaging, post-build customisation, software installation, delivery to the desktop etc
  • To manage the IT Operations Department's fleet of vehicles
  • The job will involve being there to help support a diverse range of devices including desktop and laptop PCs, smartphones, tablets, printers, scanners, multifunction devices, dictation machines and IP Telephony hardware. Installation and configuration of a broad range of software applications will also be required.

Applicants must also be able to provide evidence of their organisational and administration skills in previous roles and be capable of managing their own workload.

  • Relevant experience working within a Desktop environment
Desirable
  • Experience of working in a healthcare IT environment
