IT Technician Apprentice
Role
- Log any service desk incidents reported verbally, to enable them to be adequately tracked, resolved, and reported on
- Search knowledgebase/logs of previous tickets to inform diagnosis and resolution
- Record detailed diagnostic information to assist with the building of the knowledge base
- Support, maintain and deploy all IT hardware and software resources
- Deploy operating system images and software to network clients
- Update, patch software and undertake basic IT hardware repairs and upgrades
- Manage active network components including switches and routers, escalating to second-line support where necessary

This new Microsoft apprenticeship is part of QA's drive to support Microsoft’s Get On 2021 campaign, a five-year initiative to help 1.5 million people build careers in technology and help 300,000 connect to tech job opportunities.
QA’s Azure Cloud Support Specialist Information Communications Technician Level 3 apprenticeship programme enables the apprentice to:
- Learn on-premise and cloud-enabled technologies and services
- Learn technical content that aligns to and is relevant to employers and the market
- Gain an Azure Fundamentals Qualification and a Microsoft 365 fundamentals qualification
- Get an introduction to Windows, Linux and PowerShell
Tools and technologies learned: Learners will learn to use Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows 10, AWS, Linux, PowerShell.
Many apprentices have been supported to achieve Distinctions and Merits and been retained as full-time members of staff after their apprenticeship. Salary rises and promotions will come with securing full-time employment.
United Learning Trust has extensive experience of training IT apprentices into fully fledged and qualified IT Technicians.
The Trust may also potentially fund and support you to work towards higher qualifications such as the Network Engineer Level 4 or a Bachelors Degree.
