Main duties of the job

We're offering an opportunity to join UHS Digital and to make a difference to patients, staff, and the organisation, through the provision of analytics, data, and insight.

The Data and Analytics team is looking for a Specialist BI Analyst to join their team. You will be joining the organisation as we procure and implement a new set of BI tools and an associated data warehouse, working with a team of Specialists & Advanced Analysts in one of the largest acute NHS Trusts in the country.

You will be responsible for partnering with a variety of colleagues across operations, clinical, financial & digital services to contribute to the delivery of the team's objectives. These will be achieved by producing and presenting insightful information, completing reports in an accurate and concise format, monitoring of performance against local and national targets and providing forecasting.

Your role will involve working closely with our IT development & finance teams to support the collection, processing, analysis and reporting of key trust patient activity, this, in turn, supports the NHS Payment Scheme and local contractual rules. You will be expected to work to a strict timetable to deliver reporting flows on time in line with internal and external expectations.

A key part of this role is enhancing, improving, and automating how we work to reduce manual burden and increase efficiencies.

This role will suit an experienced information analyst who is enthusiastic about analytics, to support high-quality patient care and clinical services. A successful applicant will:

  • be responsible for the creation and production of health information reports and statistical data analysis using patient-based datasets.
  • provide advice and guidance to the Trust through data analysis.

Person Specification

Qualifications / training required

Essential
  • Educated to degree standard in a numerate discipline or has the relevant work based experience

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential
  • Previous experience in a statistical/analysis role.
  • Experience of corporate databases and multi-user environments for reporting.
  • Able to demonstrate experience of report writing and analysis for senior management and operational staff.
  • Able to demonstrate proficient user of Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to show a working knowledge of report creation using SQL.
  • Experience of NHS information requirements such as reporting data sets and standards; Information Governance
Desirable
  • Use of Patient Administration Systems or Management Information Systems e.g. Case Mix, CaMIS, eCaMIS
  • Use of reporting tools such as Business Objects/SAP BI
  • Use and development of BI tools such as QlikView, Power BI, Python or R.
