Band 3 Booking Coordinator - Imaging

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, reliable, enthusiastic Imaging Bookings Coordinator to join the Radiology Department at Heartlands Hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) based at Washwood Heath. The CDC offers diagnostics services to UHB patients, and you must be able to engage positively with patient and colleagues.

The candidates should enjoy working under pressure in a very busy booking office and be flexible to work at Heartlands Hospital and at Washwood Heath CDC when required.

This post is full time (37.5 hours) and a 12-month fixed term or secondment role with potential to become permanent.

The post holder will support the Radiology Department in booking our patients for their appropriate scans/images. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and be IT competent. Duties include making and receiving of telephone calls, data entry and general clerical duties with the main focus of ensuring we utilise all available slots within our lists.

Heartlands Hospital and the CDC operates Monday -- Sunday, 8:00am -- 8pm.

Flexible working covering a 7-day service across 5 days, 37.5 hours per week. This role will involve weekend work and the Bank holidays on a rotational basis

The Imaging Directorate provides 24/7 service delivery and has an established track record of service re-design and transformation. This vacancy offers an excellent opportunity to join a professional and dedicated Imaging team committed to providing a first-class service

Main duties of the job

*Responsible for ensuring that a professional, comprehensive administrative service is effectively delivered to all patients and members of the department. This will be through the correct processing of all diagnostic radiology requests, monitoring breach dates and correctly making appointments with strict adherence to Trust protocols. The post holder will work closely with clinicians, clinical leads and managers to ensure the delivery of diagnostic pathways.

*You will be multi-skilled, able to follow appointment booking templates and have an understanding of capacity and demand issues.

*You will be required to rotate through all areas of diagnostic imaging. This will include, but is not limited to: Ultrasound, MRI, CT, Interventional Radiology Day Unit, X-ray, and DEXA. Flexibility will be key in supporting the department to meet the needs of the service.

*As we work across all communities within Birmingham and Solihull, you'll be approachable, reliable, and able to build rapport with team members and visitors from a range of cultures and backgrounds.

Qualifications

Essential
  • *Good General Education (e.g., GCE in A-C or GSCE Level 9-4). A pass in English and Maths is essential
  • *Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative

Experience

  • *Experience of dealing with the public / customer service experience
  • *Experience working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • *Experience of using IT systems
