Band 3 Catering Team Leader Retail / End-unit

Job summary

The Catering department has an exciting opportunity to work as part of the team at the Solihull Hospital for an End- Unit and Retail Team Leader.

The catering team leader is responsible for the daily co-ordination of staffing and service delivery in their designated assigned areas across the catering department which include, In-patient feeding providing meals to all 6 ward areas / Retail / Stores Production.

To promote and maintain best practice in all areas of the department ensuring catering services are provided in strict compliance with all food Safety Legislation and the trusts HACCP procedures.

To maintain daily audits and supervision of staff delivering a high level of Catering service to areas of the Trust (Ward & Retail services over Two outlets).

Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner handling all inquiries.

Making sure you provide the correct information regarding Allergen Aware Meals, IDDSI and Cultural Menus.

The Catering Team Leader will be responsible for keeping up all mandatory training with staff and completing yearly appraisals, whilst monitoring fault reporting relating to catering equipment.

The Catering team leader is the key main link for retail and inpatient catering meal delivery.

Main duties of the job

Patient / Retail Catering (Substantive or UHB+)

* Maintain excellent cleaning standards following cleaning schedules supplied

* Provide high quality retail and beverage service to all customers

* Communicate menus and promotions to customers, providing good customer service

* Identify and report faults as required to department leads

* Use POS tills for payment transactions, and follow departments cash handling procedures

* Ensure codes of practice for HACCP and food safety are followed as per training

* Temperatures of cooked foods and deliveries recorded using the designated HACCP sheets

* Replenish stock in accordance with Retail POS plans

* Check dates and rotation of food accordingly within the working area

* Handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH

* Report ANY cash handling or security breaches immediately

* Ensure Hospitality is delivered to areas as booked

* Report abuse of service to line managers

* Assist customers with needs and wheelchairs throughout the Retail and Hospitality Experience

* Making sure you provide the correct information regarding Allergen Aware Meals , IDDSSI and

cultural meals

* Conduct weekly orders for Retail and Catering End-unit

Qualifications

Essential
  • * Demonstrate equivalent stores supervisory experience
  • * Supervisory or Team Leader qualification
  • * Level 2/3 Supervising Food Safety in Catering

Experience

Essential
  • * Minimum of 2 years Supervisory experience with a large staff group and systems management
  • * Previous experience of working in a professional kitchen
  • * ICT skills including Microsoft Office
