Band 8a Maternity Quality Improvement Lead

Job summary

The post holder will be working at the heart of Maternity Services and across departmental and organisational boundaries to contribute to the development and initiation of complex, high-value projects in line with the Maternity Patient Safety priorities and Quality Improvement Programmes. The post holder will work with the Maternity senior team to manage and support the delivery of quality improvement projects.

The post holder will play a key role in helping embed quality improvement processes and best practices across maternity services and will help transfer knowledge to colleagues involved in project delivery.

The successful applicant will have significant experience of implementing a wide variety of change projects to a formal methodology within large public sector organisations, preferably within the acute NHS setting and will be able to work across organisational boundaries.

Using and championing best practice approaches and a wide range of improvement tools the post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of a number of improvement and strategic delivery projects with multiple stakeholders.

The post holder will support the UHB Quality Improvement programme using the Model for Improvement by engaging with local 'change champions' in the development, implementation and progress tracking of their projects

Qualifications

Essential
  • * Educated to Degree level
  • * Post graduate level qualification or equivalent training / development and experience
  • * PRINCE2, APMG or equivalent qualifications in project management or relevant experience
  • * Training / experience in quality improvement techniques
  • * Management qualification or equivalent experience at a management level
  • * Evidence of personal development through formal courses and/or experience
Desirable
  • * Registered Healthcare Professional
  • * Post Graduate management / service improvement qualification nor demonstrable equivalent experience

Experience

Essential
  • * Experience of implementing a wide variety of improvement projects to a formal methodology within large public sector organisations
  • * Experience of risk, issue and project change management
  • * Experience in building credible project plans, identifying activities, resources, timescales, milestones and critical path
  • * Experience of working across organisational boundaries and of delivering projects across multi-disciplined teams working with multiple stakeholders
  • * Experience of using and implementing a wide range of quality project management tools, templates and techniques
  • * Experience and evidence of the use of effective facilitation skills
  • * Knowledge of the NHS Constitution, the Trust vision, values and strategic objectives; and the current change agenda
  • * Developed knowledge of project management methodology, processes, structure and governance
  • * Knowledge of benefits management processes
  • * Knowledge of formal stakeholder management and communication tools and techniques and their use in projects
Desirable
  • * Implementation of improvement and change projects within the NHS
  • * Experience in using advanced problem-solving skills and creative thinking to establish innovative solutions
  • * Lean' or other business process re-engineering methodologies
  • * Knowledge of a range of useful tools used during the implementation of change, for example RACI charts, process mapping
