Senior Business Intelligence Analyst
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Business Intelligence team at UHBW as a band 7 Senior BI Analyst. This is a fixed term/secondment role for 12 months and the successful applicant will have proven experience in an NHS Analyst. This role will involve the provision of information and analysis to clinical divisions as well as the wider trust. This senior role will require interaction with senior operational and clinical staff throughout the trust as well as supporting more junior members of the team on a daily basis.
Main duties of the job
Support the BI Managers in providing analysis and solutions for the Clinical Divisions and Trust services as part of the BI team in Digital Services
Provide expertise in reporting from key Trust IT systems
Use knowledge and understanding of key Trust and Divisional priorities to specify and deliver reporting to support Clinical Divisions and wider Trust services
To represent Clinical Divisional reporting priorities for consideration in Trust prioritisation
Advise and support colleagues in their work developing BI solutions from the data held in these systems
To interpret requirements for performance, operational and clinical reporting applications, including for corporate and statutory reporting requirements
Communicate, understand and interpret the requirements from teams around the Trust
Represent the Trust in communications with colleagues about national data sharing and with the local community particularly BNSSG STP/ICS.
Develop solutions in line with recognised Trust standards and NHS data quality standards.
Support the development of more junior Analysts within the wider BI team

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Post graduate qualification or substantial demonstrable evidenced continued professional development along with specialist knowledge/skills acquired through training
Knowledge and Experience
- Proven experience in an NHS BI role
- Proficient use of Microsoft tools including SSRS
- Proven Experience of communicating highly complex information in a variety of contexts (written, face-to-face presentation, single/group audience) to staff at different levels, including senior managerial and specialised technical
- Experience of working with NHS Data Sets
- Experience of data visualisation using Microsoft Power BI and SSRS
- Experience using SSMS & SQL
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of statistics and the ability to analyse and present statistical information clearly
- Clear understanding of NHS patient activity information, statutory data requirements and data definitions
- Ability to analyse and draw relevant conclusions from complex data sets
- Able to work in interruptive environments under pressure and to irregular schedules
- Ability to work within a team and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide advice and convey complex information clearly to staff who are not experts in BI and also be able to interpret their reporting needs
