Receptionist / Appointments Clerk - Outpatients
Job summary
The Outpatient Booking Team is currently looking for an 15 hours per week Appointments Clerk to join the team at Canford House.
In the appointments call centre you will be involved in making and receiving telephone calls to patients regarding forthcoming appointments and sending out appropriate documentation as well as booking appointments for future clinics.
You will be working closely with other clerks and appointment staff as well as Consultant and Nursing staff. Previous NHS and general office experience is preferable but not essential as training will be provided. You will have basic computer skills and numerical accuracy. You must be able to demonstrate that you can work effectively as a team member and have clear verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility in hours may be required especially during periods of team member's annual leave.
Future opening hours may include evening and weekend clinics so you will need to be flexible.
Base Location: Canford House, Discovery Court Business Centre, Wallisdown Road, Poole

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Good standard of numeracy and literacy equivalent to GCSE
- ECDL or equivalent experience e.g. experience of a range of IT packages
Experience
- Customer Service
- NHS experience - especially appointment booking and reception desk cover
- General office experience
- Experience of working with sensitive and/or personal data.
- Organisational and planning skills
Technical Skills Competencies
- Basic computer skills
Knowledge
- Clear understanding of Information Governance and its importance within the Healthcare setting
Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Clear verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work under pressure
