Technician Apprentice
Role
The work-based element of the training will vary right across the spectrum from motorsport to 3D Printing.
You will have the opportunity to be trained to carry out the following duties:
- In state-of-the-art battery, electric motors,
- Vehicle powertrain testing
- CNC machinery
- Lasers, electrical/electronic systems
- Robotics
- Coordinate measuring machines
- Additive layer manufacturing
- Material testing
- Computer aided design and various other areas of Engineering.
- The areas covered during the apprenticeship will be closely linked with the disciplines covered by your Level 4 College Course.
Training
We are offering an opportunity to join a highly innovative university department on a four-year modern technical apprenticeship where you will be part of one of Europe’s largest energy research facilities. Our apprenticeship programme offers two distinct pathways: Materials & Manufacturing and Electrification & Propulsion. You can choose the pathway that best aligns with your interests and career goals. This apprenticeship provides the scope to build on your academic studies through your Level 4 college course and allows you to enhance your skills and knowledge by joining an exciting and dynamic technical team and a growing apprentice network.
You will receive training in typical engineering practices with a particular focus on advanced manufacturing, material processing technologies, product design and composite lightweight material engineering, as well as energy storage, battery technologies, such as manufacturing and recycling, and electrical machines.
- Level 4 Engineering manufacturing technician
- L4 HNC in Engineering or Manufacturing disciplines
- Blended on/off the job training and location to be confirmed.
WMG currently have a well-recognised apprenticeship programme, which has been in development over the last 12 years.
There are opportunities for techncians roles after the apprenticeship and many of our apprentices commence a degree apprenticeship opportunity after this programme.
