Information Governance Apprentice
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Information Governance team and contribute to ensuring the authority adheres to strict data protection and freedom of information regulations. As an apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced professionals and studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.
Role
To provide effective support to the information governance functions of the authority.
To support the delivery of an efficient, informed and fully compliant information request handling operation, by processing information requests under Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection legislation.
Main Duties:
- Independently manage meeting agendas, take detailed minutes, and ensure timely follow-up on actions
- Lead team discussions on planning and contribute strategically to organisational information governance initiatives.
- Collaborate with and provide high-level support to the Data Protection Officer
- Evaluate current information governance practices and propose evidence-based improvements for implementation
- Manage information requests under FOI, EIR, and Data Protection legislation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Develop and maintain comprehensive information governance databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
- Provide guidance to colleagues on data compliance processes
Prepare information for release and respond to requests in accordance with statutory deadlines - Demonstrate a thorough understanding of data protection and freedom of information regulations, staying informed of legislative updates
- Lead and actively participate in complex team projects and initiatives, contributing to successful outcomes
