Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Information Analyst to join the Information Team at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. This is a challenging and rewarding role, which will allow you to help make a difference for our local community.

The role is required to support the workload within the Clinical Division in the team. This will be a varied and challenging role, for which we are looking for an exceptional candidate to work within the team managing tight deadlines and communicating with a variety of staff across the organisation.

The role will be very rewarding in using data to make a difference for patient services, through our operational teams and data submissions to external organizations.

The Information Team are currently working in a hybrid way including both on site and remote working during the week.

Main duties of the job

The Information Analysts are required to mainly specialize in one of the operational divisions within the Trust, making recommendations for improvements where necessary in the monitoring of activity, performance, data quality and data collection systems.

The successful candidate will therefore develop expertise within the Clinical Division, but will also be required to understand other areas of activity. The post holder will be expected to develop both internal and external reports, whilst helping end-users interpret the information provided. There will be an element of routine reporting and with the implementation of a new Data Warehouse in 2024, this brings the exciting opportunity to redesign the current reporting and allow for more interactive data sources for end users.

The role will need strong data analysis skills, excellent attention to detail and good communication skills. You should have experience with information reporting solutions and have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and ideally knowledge of SQL Server, PowerBI, Business Objects or Tableau.

Job summary

The Information Services department are responsible for producing the reporting requirements for NHS England, Regional Health Teams, Integrated Care Board (ICB), regular internal reporting, BI dashboards and adhoc reports.

The analysts support the operational divisions within the trust, to ensure all data is accurate, timely and appropriate to their needs.

Reporting is produced from a range of data sources and published in several different formats.

Job responsibilities

Under supervision, the completion of statutory returns to NHS England, Regional Health Team and Integrated Care Board (ICB) within the required deadlines and to the department standard.

Carry out information collation using SQL, Excel, Business Objects or other relevant tools, on corporate and departmental data.

Provide support and cover for the Senior Information Analyst as required.

Support the whole Information Team in cross checking work and highlighting any problems or errors in production.

Supervise the divisional workload using the in-house recording system for workload distribution.

Respond to requests for ad-hoc, FOI or routine information and presenting the data in an easy and readable format, adhering to the department standard and to ensure exceptions and problems are escalated where appropriate.

Combine data from multiple systems to enable analysis and reporting.

Carry out data upload or data entry into spread sheets and databases as required to provide internal and external information.

Support corporate reporting for performance management, service redesign or commissioning purposes.

Support validation and data quality standards within the Trust.

Ensure that confidentiality and security considerations are met e.g., anonymisation of patient or staff data, use of secure data transfer methods.

Follow, maintain and update the Standard Operating Procedures that are in place within the department.

To be aware of and comply with departmental procedures.

Any other duties that may be defined by the Information Manager/Senior Information Analyst.

  • Education to Diploma Level or equivalent relevant experience

  • Microsoft Office Training
