Digital Media Officer

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our undergraduate medical education simulation team. We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated person who enjoys working as part of a team to provide and lead the digital media support for the service. The role is predominately to create and develop the multi-media requirements for the undergraduate medical education. The successful candidate will have a multi-media and creative technical background and be confident with the use of multi-media technology and design.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the Undergraduate Medical Education Digital Media Officer is to provide the Undergraduate Medical Education academy with support related to educational systems and multimedia projects.

The post holder supports the planning, testing and delivery acting as the subject expert in digital media design. The post holder will produce material including the development of scripts, filming (on location around the hospital or in the studio), video and sound editing, motion graphics and encoding for various output formats.

The post holder oversees the development of the website including the intranet page and maintains a presence on social media in the promotion of Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust Undergraduate Medical Education simulation training department.

The department operates across all Trust sites and the post holder will be expected to travel to different locations, where and when their role requires them to do so.

Job Purpose:

Key Duties:

General Duties to:

Responsible for creation, design and implementation of social media to include student updates and advertising the academy to external stakeholders and internally to encourage engagement.

Creation of multi-media resources to advertise the academy and develop teaching resources for medical students in liaision with colleagues to include Clinical Teaching Fellows.

Create and maintain social digital platforms including the UG Medical Academy website to include student induction, communication updates to faculty and students, student sign ups and host resources.

Digitalisation of current paperwork and processes in order to support sustainability.

Creation of Undergraduate newsletter.

Attend regular review meetings to update on project progress.

Responsible for productions including the development of scripts, filming (on location around the hospital or in the studio), video and sound editing, motion graphics and encoding for various output formats.

Undertake filming to a professional standard using Sony EX3/and FS5 cameras, rigs, motion sliders and other camera support devices and Go Pro.

Responsible for and undertake filming of procedures using a Polecam camera jib system.

Undertake high quality sound recordings using a range of microphones.

Be proficient in the implementation of appropriate lighting setups for filming subjects on location.

Operate DSLR cameras to capture non-clinical photographic images for educational output within e-learning content, presentations on websites, whtin videos and in print-based publications.

Capture 360-degree video and phot imaging for use in interactive media content.

Be able to work independently, producing work to a very high standard.

Responsible for the delivery of live video streaming events for internal medical education and training, utilising the broadcast system.

Responsible for own daily management of specified project work associated with `multimedia service support to the Undergraduate Medical Teaching Academy.

Assist in the review and update of existing/legacy video content to address changes in medical regulation or educational policy.

Monitor service needs within agreed limits defined by managers.

Make effective contributions to strategic planning, reviewing all video expenditure and implementing cost improvement schemes when necessary, eg consumable usage, highlighting new service potential.

Responsible and pro-active for ensuring that timetables and deadlines are met with regard to the organisation and co-ordination of multidisciplinary projects.

Provide technical support, advice and training to colleagues in troubleshooting problems with video related equipment and associated media queries.

Have advanced knowledge of Apple and Windows computer systems.

Have advanced knowledge of the latest versions of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, specifically in the use of Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop and Media Encode

Undertake audio-visual duties and give assistance to Simulation technician and Lead Nurse and Medical Lead when required.

Work closely with the Communications team to mainitain the Trusts visions, values and branding.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • BTEC in Interactive Media, Graphic Design, Photography and Media Diploma.

Experience

Essential
  • Specialist knowledge of and experience of working with a wide range of design and digital programmes, such as Microsoft, Adobe, Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Acrobat).
  • Proven experience of web design, photography, filmography, graphic design, social media consulting, marketing, printing and distribution, data analysing, and stock controlling.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of producing a wide range of innovative, high-quality written and visual content for a variety of audiences and a variety of digital and print channels, using the latest design and visual information techniques.
  • Experience of commissioning high-quality design materials and of managing external contractors (design agencies, printers, photographers etc).
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of taking complex information and translating into engaging visual content.
  • Specialist knowledge of a range of communications tools, including but not limited to: media monitoring systems, social scheduling systems, website content management systems, Office 365 suite.
  • Experience of working with IT applications, in particular, databases & spreadsheets.
  • Experience of working in administration.
  • Experience of advising colleagues on appropriate creative concepts and design approaches, and reporting on the progress of design work to relevant internal and external stakeholders, managers and leaders
