EPMA Digital Medicines Pharmacy Technician
Job summary
We are looking for a experienced pharmacy technician with an interest in digital systems maintenance and development to join our team. We are keen for applicants to have a grounded knowledge in acute care provision with a solid knowledge of medicines optimisation processes.
As part of the EPMA team under the Clinical Systems Group this role is involved in the "business as usual" optimisation of the EPRO/OpenEP electronic medicines administration system. You will be supported to develop into the role through training provisions and guidance from an experienced EPMA team. Using your knowledge and experience of interoperability as well as process change management we want you to be involved in meeting the Trust requirements following a successful implementation of EPMA throughout Wye Valley Trust.
Key to the role is engagement with stakeholders across the secondary care, primary care and our suppliers to ensure acceptance of system development. As the EPMA digital medicines pharmacy technician you will be involved in further development and integration with internal systems as well as meeting nationally set standards for Transfer Of Care and discharge management.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be the Digital Medicines Pharmacy Technician for the Trust.
The purpose of this job is:
- Assisting in the operational maintenance, management running and development of the Trust EPMA systems, including business continuity processes in the event of systems failure.
- Assisting in management & co-ordination of regular system housekeeping tasks, system integrity checks and other software tasks as appropriate
- Assisting in the implementation of software upgrade and development of the Trust EPMA systems, including training and updating of SOPs.
- To work with the EPMA system manager to ensure that software and hardware is compliant with all relevant legislation, the Trust Medicines Code and Trust standards of corporate governance.
- Ensuring that all relevant Trust staff are trained in the effective use of Trust EPMA system.
- In the absence of the EPMA system manager, providing operational management of the Trust EPMA system, and Trust representation at EPMA system user groups, conferences or seminars.
- Supporting the EPMA system manager in the future implementation of new developments within or related to the Trust EPMA system.
- To ensure that relevant Trust organisational procedures are adhered to, objectives are identified and met, and that the identification and realisation of benefits are facilitated.
Working as part of an on call rota to provide 24/7 support to the Trust and guide the Trust in times of system outage.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician registered with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Have a minimum of 4 years post registration, with 2 years at a Band 5 or above
- Accredited Checking Technician
- Experience of working within an EPR Programme or change environment
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Knowledge and practical experience of change management and business re-design
- Skilled at using a wide variety of routine and complex IT software, and developing application of IT solutions to clinical and operational problems
- Knowledge and experience of working with reporting tools.
Experience
- Experience of working in a change environment with multiple stakeholders and securing their engagement to deliver change
- Experience in working within a project management environment delivering business process/change initiatives across an organisation
- Experience of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
